Faith in Action: Our Youth on Mission in Belize.

ree

When a group of our youth stepped out of their comfort zones and boarded a plane to Belize, they didn't just go on a trip — they answered a call. With open hearts and willing hands, they were the first mission team for this Mission. What followed was a powerful week of impact, transformation, and deep connection.

Flexibility in the Unexpected: Kelvin, one of the youth participants, described the entire experience in one word: flexibility. As the “guinea pig” group paving the way, they had to adjust to new situations constantly. Whether it was navigating cultural differences or embracing spontaneous changes in plans. And yet, amidst all the newness, they found joy, laughter, and purpose in the unpredictability.

A Lasting Impact on Guinea Grass: Faith, another student, reflected on how meaningful it was to realize the impact they had made in just one week. Guinea Grass only receives visiting mission teams maybe once every two years, and the youth were met with incredible gratitude. Their presence, their love, and their willingness to serve left a lasting mark on a community that deeply valued their time and hearts.

Small Acts, Big Blessings: For Timothy, the trip was a lesson in the power of small gestures. From sharing meals and prayers in local homes to running a vibrant VBS for children, every simple act of kindness rippled out in ways they didn’t expect. “We planted seeds,” he said, “and the kids were really inspired by the work we did.”

A Heart for Service at Home: Justin shared how the living conditions in Belize; limited water, no air conditioning, and daily discomforts, gave him a fresh perspective on the blessings we often take for granted. That awakening stirred something deeper: a renewed desire to serve more, give back, and appreciate life with a heart of gratitude.

How Can We Support the Mission?

As they returned home, the team invited our church family to continue supporting the people of Belize through prayer, specifically for economic challenges, community development, and protection against natural disasters like the recent flooding. There are also ways to give financially through organizations like PPM, and our church leadership can help guide anyone feeling led to support in that way.
