Not By Might, Nor By Power But By My Spirit

Being a witness isn't just checking a box, like I did my witness work today. It is how we live every day. It is who we are because we follow Jesus. Here's another thing, Zechariah 4:6 is part of God's vision and prophecy that he gave to prophet Zechariah. Now, prophet Zechariah in the Old Testament,The Israelites had returned from exile in Babylon and were rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem, but the work had stalled due to opposition and discouragement. Zerubbabel, the governor of Judah, was leading the effort but faced many challenges. God graciously observes that from heaven. And he speaks to Zechariah, the prophet at the time, and says, go tell Zerubbabel, it is not by power, not by might, but by my spirit. Now this phrase, “not by might, not by power”, refers to human strength, military force, technology, bombs, and drones, and all these things that we see in our time and day, or any resources that we as human beings can rely on. “But by my spirit”, means that, that which needs to be done will only be accomplished by God's divine power, not human effort.

So what does that mean for us? That we are called to rely fully on God. Even in the seemingly impossible situation, they become possible when the Holy Spirit is at work in us. He has given us the power to be, the power to be witnesses.
