“It is not good for man to be alone…” (Genesis 2:18)
What a joy it is to be reminded that family is not just a social construct or human invention, it is God’s idea from the very beginning.
When God created Adam, He saw that it was not good for him to be alone. Out of this divine observation, He established family as the foundation of community, society, and the church. Family is sacred, and because it comes from God, it must be honored.
In Genesis 2:18, we see God’s intention clearly: companionship, support, and love within family. Later in Ephesians 5 and 6, we read instructions for husbands, wives, and children, each role bound together in mutual honor, love, and submission under Christ.
The family is not man’s design. It is heaven’s blueprint for healthy living and spiritual growth. To dishonor family, therefore, is to dishonor God Himself.
Honor in the Home
The call to honor begins within our own homes.
Wives are called to respect their husbands.
Husbands are called to love their wives as Christ loved the church.
Children are called to obey and honor their parents.
When honor starts in the home, it naturally flows to the church and society. A family that treasures one another becomes a light to the world, reflecting God’s love and unity.
Today, culture often pushes “my rights, my choice, my life” above biblical truth. While human rights and personal freedoms have their place, we must be careful not to let modernism erode God’s eternal design.
Marriage and family are not negotiable experiments; they are God’s covenant institutions. No amount of wealth, status, or modern opinion can replace the love, unity, and blessing that come from honoring the family.
Families face storms; conflicts, betrayals, financial hardships, misunderstandings. Yet, the message is clear: do not give up. Do not scatter what God has joined together. Instead, work on one another in love.
As the speaker shared, family members are often “raw materials,” shaped and refined through patience, forgiveness, and prayer. With God’s grace, families can overcome even the hardest of trials.
A Call to Action
Today, let us make a declaration together:
I will honor my family.
I will defend my family.
I will treasure my family.
I will not scatter what God has joined.
By honoring our families, we honor God. By protecting our families, we protect the foundation of the church. By loving our families, we reflect Christ to the world.
Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus, forgive us for the times we have dishonored what You established. Teach us to honor, love, and treasure our families. Heal broken relationships, restore trust, and fill our homes with Your presence. May our families shine as testimonies of Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
✨ Family is God’s idea. Honor it. Treasure it. Protect it.
